Stop Cruelty
to Geese in New York

A bill has been introduced in the New
York legislature to ban the force-feeding of geese
for the production of foie gras, in which a
long pipe is inserted into the goose's esophagus and
compressed air is used to force excessive amounts
of food into the animal. This process leads to the
swelling of the animal's liver, causing it to expand
up to 12 times its normal size, and often causing
internal organs to rupture leading to death of the
animal. New York has one of the country's two main
centers for producing this inhumane delicacy (the
other is California).
