Stop the Slaughter of Horses
The
American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act, legislation to prohibit slaughtering
horses for human consumption, has been reintroduced in the U.S. Congress. Though
few Americans eat horses, about 50,000 horses are slaughtered in the U.S. for
sale abroad, and the numbers are rising and foot-and-mouth disease has increased
the demand for this "alternative" meat. Horses killed for their meat
suffer greatly during transport and slaughter. Some are skinned and dismembered
while conscious. Horsemeat is not kosher.
Please contact
your federal legislators and ask them to "Please support the American Horse
Slaughter Prevention Act." Your letters and calls make an enormous difference!
