Give New Jersey Students a Choice in Dissection

New Jersey is considering a bill that would allow students to refuse to experiment on or dissect animals if they have religious or ethical objections to doing so. Your help is urgently needed.

Please contact your NJ Assemblymembers and ask them to “Please support A. 2233 to give students a choice in dissection,” and contact your NJ State Senator and urge them to “Please support A. 2233 to give students a choice in dissection.” To find who your legislators are and how to contact them, look them up at the NJ website or just ask us at [email protected].

Many Jews believe that these kinds of experiments or dissections are forbidden because of the cruel way animals are killed, because of the environmental disruption of collecting these animals from the wild, because of the support for factory farms from which piglets are obtained, or because of the wonton destruction involved. Dozens of studies show that students learn as well or better by using alternatives to dissection.

Currently, many students are forced to dissect or experiment on animals in violation of their conscience, or be penalized with a failing grade. Please help pass this bill so that students can maintain their moral or religious convictions. If you live in New Jersey, your quick phone call can make a huge difference! If you have friends or family in New Jersey, have them call too!
