Oppose Foie Gras in Illinois

A bill to ban foie gras production in Illinois has passed the state Senate and is pending in the state House. Please help!

Foie gras production is notoriously cruel, and many nations now prohibit the inhumane practice of force feeding birds to create this product, including Israel. Birds raised for foie gras suffer terribly when they are force fed excessive amounts of food multiple times each day, and many die due to obesity, ruptured throats, proliferation of bacteria in their digestive tracts, or suffocation when they choke on their own vomit. California recently banned these cruel practices, and now Senate Bill 413 has been introduced in Illinois to stop this torture as well.

Although foie gras is currently produced only in California and New York, this bill would put further pressure towards permanently ending the production of foie gras in the United States.

If you live in Illinois, please ask the Agriculture Committee Chair and the Agriculture Committee Minority Leader to "please pass Senate Bill 413 against foie gras.":

Please also contact your own state representative to urge him or her to support SB 413. You can find them at Congress.org or ask us at mailjewishveg.com.
